It’s a new way to save and an
opportunity for further
participation in the development of
Circles. The Yarn Co-op is like a
farmer’s co-op, or CSA (community
supported agriculture) where you pay
for a season’s worth of produce up
front. The produce we have is yarn.
When you join The Yarn Co-op, you
pre-pay for your yarn in order to
get a discount. As a bonus, you will
be invited to 3 Co-op meetings per
year to help make the final
selections for the upcoming season’s
yarn offerings at Circles.
Joining the Yarn Co-op is a
win-win solution for Circles and our
customers.
You already buy yarn at Circles. As
a co-op member you will receive a
discount on all yarn that you buy
through your co-op share.
Co-op members also get to
participate in selecting each
season's new yarns. By investing in
Circles and participating in the
buying process you become a partner
in Circles' growth and
sustainability.
There are a few times each year when
there are fewer people buying yarn
and these times coincide with the
times we must purchase yarn for the
next season. Establishing the yarn
co-operative is Circles' creative
way of resolving this cash flow
dilemma with the partnership of our
customers.
Your input in deciding which
yarns Circles will carry ensures
that our offerings meet our
customers' knitting interests.
You can join the co-op at any time.
You buy into your chosen co-op level
(see below) and you will be given a
credit for your co-op payment plus
your discount benefit. That is, you
pay $250 and receive a yarn credit
for $275.
Each time you purchase yarn (the
co-op does not apply to books,
patterns, accessories or classes),
you tell us you're making a co-op
purchase and we'll deduct that yarn
purchase from your co-op balance. If
your balance is depleted you may
renew, at the same benefit rate. In
January, May and August, you may
increase your benefit level by
investing the amount need to
increase your balance to the next
level.
There are two ways to increase your
benefit level.
When you join you may request
that we hold your balance. This
means that you will not make a
purchase against your co-op balance.
Then you can add to your balance as
you can, to increae your level. Once
you make a purchase against your
co-op balance you lock in your
benefit level.
In January, May and August, you
may increase your benefit level,
regardless of whether you have
purchased against your balance, by
investing the the amount needed to
increase your current balance to the
next level.
At the time you sign up you can
make a simultaneous yarn purchase
that is 20% or less than your co-op
total.
